The 3D Printing Intern will support StartupLab’s product development and prototyping activities by operating 3D printers, preparing digital 3D models, and assisting in basic troubleshooting and post-processing of printed materials. You will participate in creating physical prototypes for internal projects, training materials, and client requirements.
This role is perfect for students who enjoy hands-on technical work, digital modeling, and transforming concepts into real physical outputs. You will be trained on the fundamentals of 3D printing operations and safety procedures.
Responsibilities
- Operate 3D printers and monitor print jobs
- Prepare designs using simple CAD or 3D modeling tools
- Generate slicing files using software like Cura or similar
- Conduct basic printer maintenance and troubleshooting
- Perform post-processing (cleaning, sanding, assembly)
- Document print settings, results, and prototype improvements
- Assist team members in developing new prototypes
- Organize and maintain 3D printing materials and tools
Educational Requirements
- Open to Engineering, Architecture, Industrial Design, IT, Multimedia Arts, or related programs
- Must be enrolled in an OJT / internship program
Experience Requirements
- Must have basic experience using CAD or 3D modeling tools (school or personal projects)
- Experience creating simple 3D models or prototypes is an advantage
- Basic familiarity with 3D printers or fabrication tools (school lab experience okay)
- Portfolio or sample 3D designs is an advantage
Additional Requirements
- Willingness to learn equipment handling and safety procedures
- Good attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to follow technical instructions
- Comfortable working with hands-on tasks
